Eye of the storm

The aim of this speculative project is to convey a serious message by creating luxurious and relaxing experiences within the context of disaster tourism by creating the contrast between disaster and peace, wealth and poverty. As the impact of human pollution on the environment continues to exacerbate natural disasters, it becomes increasingly urgent to raise awareness about these issues.

This project imagines a future scenario in 2050 where disasters have become so prevalent that humans can no longer control them. In this context, the desire to experience real-life disasters within a safe environment has emerged, leading to the creation of a fictional company called Eye of the Storm. This company offers a safe dome that provides an extreme clarity view of tornadoes, catering to human’s born fascination with enclosed and immersive experiences. (Sloterdigk, “bubbles” 2011)

The project aims to utilize satire to evoke public awareness about the problematic relationship between industry and nature, highlighting the negative impact of human activity on the environment. By immersing affordable visitors in a luxurious and secure environment, the project seeks to provide a sharp contrast to the typical experience of being enclosed in a steel-shielded car during a traditional tornado-chasing tour.
